Project Overview
The Blue Dot, UNESCO MGIEP’s bi-annual publication, aims to highlight the relationship between education, peace, sustainable development, and global citizenship. The July 2018 issue focuses on digital pedagogies for transformative learning. To enhance readability and visual appeal, we developed a structured layout system with unique designs for each section, ensuring consistency and ease of navigation.
Problem Statement
The primary challenge was creating a magazine layout that not only aligned with the overarching themes of education and sustainable development but also catered to a diverse readership. The layout needed to be versatile for future issues, visually engaging, and capable of integrating various forms of content, including text, images, and illustrations, without compromising on coherence and readability.
Our Approach
To address these challenges, we implemented a color-coded system for the magazine’s six sections, each following a specific grid structure. This design strategy enhances reader navigation and maintains a cohesive visual theme throughout. Additionally, we enriched the opinion section with illustrations and images that represent the authors’ perspectives, providing context and enhancing the reader’s engagement. This system ensures a seamless and adaptable layout for future issues, maintaining consistency and improving the overall reading experience.
